Prefabricated Standard Trusses
Trusses which will be hidden by a ceiling and therefore not be visible after installation. The design criteria are driven by form, function and cost since there are no other externally visible esthetical considerations.
Prefabricated Exposed Trusses
Monoplanar nail-plated trusses (all the truss members are in one vertical plane) which are visible after installation. Esthetical considerations pertaining to form and timber sizes and final finish are important. Planed timber of bigger sections is generally used. Trusses are often painted and care is taken on site to hide the connector plates.
Bolted trusses
Trusses which are manufactured on site by the erector and consist of loose timber members which are bolted together with lapped joints. Esthetical considerations pertaining to form and timber sizes and final finish are important. Planed timber of bigger sections is generally used.
Beams & Rafters
Large section timber elements arranged in a ridge beam (for duo pitched roofs) and loose rafter configuration. No timber tie beams or web members are present.
